Kia ora! The Knowledge returns after a break with lots of news to share about Documentary Edge 2012. Just before NZ shuts down for the holidays, we are excited to announce details of Documentary Edge Festival, Screen Edge Forum (new name), DOC Pitch, Documentary Edge Campus and other news. Mark your calendars! The 7th edition of Documentary Edge Festival will be held in Auckland from 26th April to 13th May at Event Cinemas Newmarket and in Wellington from 17th May to 3rd June at Angelika at Reading Cinemas Courtenay. We are delighted to announce the first six films that will be part of the 2012 programme.
The full programme with more exciting new films will be launched in late February. As in the past, we will offer early bird specials, group discounts and other concessions for the young and mature audiences. If you wish to advertise in the print programme, please see Rate Card
If you're part of the screen industry, here's something to get excited about. The new Screen Edge Forum will be held at AUT in Auckland from 2nd to 4th May 2012. The Screen Edge Forum is an annual Film, TV and All Media industry event focused on innovative ways to create and fund all kinds of screen productions. It includes seminars, panels, master-classes, and DOC Pitch
The programme will include the sessions Sexy Tech, Architecture of Storytelling, Demystifying Transmedia, Creative Collaborations and a special presentation on documentary production and distribution from NZFC.
More details on the programme and speakers will be announced in the next newsletter. Registrations to the Forum are now open and we encourage everyone to take advantage of the early bird specials. The first early bird deadline is 1st of March 2012.
The Screen Edge Forum is a place to update your tool-box with cutting-edge ideas to further your craft and practice in making media and content as well as a place to network with across genres and industry with local and international professionals and experts. It's the place you'll want to be with registration options to suit everyone.
We are pleased to open submission to all full registrants of Screen Edge Forum for the annual DOC Pitch. DOC Pitch is a popular part of the Forum each year. It gives selected filmmakers the opportunity to pitch their project to a panel of local and overseas commissioning editors, buyers and other funders sitting together in a documentary specific pitching forum.
The deadline is at 5pm on Wednesday, 29th February 2012. Entry Form
We've got more films, more books, and we need more people to come in and enjoy the amazing collection of documentary materials in Auckland. Four viewing stations are waiting for eager documentary enthusiasts - so come on in. It's FREE!
We also welcome any financial donations as well as audio-visual and print materials on documentary film-making. This is a community resource and we are committed to growing it to become a vital place for documentary film-makers and other communities to view, research, learn and network.
The Campus is located at level 1, 114 Ponsonby Road, Auckland (above The Long Room) and it's open between 10am and 4pm Monday to Friday (booking is recommended).
